Agnus at the Hirschfeld

Our beloved Amiga 500 Arcade “Agnus” will be available for public use at the Hirschfeld Gallery from 23 November 2007 – 27 January 2008 as part of the exhibition Living Together.
We have chosen a bunch of games that will be able to be played during the duration of the exhibition, including The New Zealand Story.
From the press release:
“Living Together shares and celebrates work from artists’ own collections. Wellington artists and designers have been invited to lend a work of special meaning or interest to them from their own homes. The lenders include artists and designers who have had a recent involvement with the Michael Hirschfeld Gallery.”

Fairfax to be Prosecuted

Now that is is almost April, I thought I’d better follow up on the progress of the Solicitor-General’s action against Fairfax regarding the publication of the leaked information regarding the “Terrorist” raids in the Ureweras. Funny how these things tend to drop off the radar pretty quickly.

Well as of last December (2007) it looks like the SG has decided to issue contempt proceedings. There is also good article about the proceedings here.

Interestingly the incriminating articles have now disappeared from the Stuff site – presumably a consequence of the proceedings. This doesn’t erase the public memory of this however, and there has been plenty of opportunity for people to cache/copy/distribute the information further.

Meanwhile, the country is gearing up to what has been billed as one of the largest trials ever.

Fasten your seatbelts! September 2008 is also predicted by political commentators to be the most likely month for NZ’s national election.

How not to get your photo in the DomPost

Was Fairfax breaking the law by publishing this and that? And was their justification good enough? Well it seems that the Solicitor-General didn’t think so, and neither do I, so when the opportunity arose for me to have my face in the Dom I thought my opinion should go with it, in the form of a specially produced t-shirt reading “FAIRFAX TRIAL?”. Unsurprisingly it wasn’t published…luckily we took our own photos.

The published article can be found in the Indulgence section of the November 24, 2007 issue of the Dominion Post.
